Distraction is all I need

An old friend serviced me well the last couple of weeks. Let me introduce him to you, its my little crunchy ball.
After a few days on my new way to a healthy life and starting to think seriously about my eating habits I noticed that I "snack" a lot in front of the Laptop. This had to change!
I thought about a distraction which would work for me.
About 12 years ago, in 10th grade, my mom bought me the little ball. I always was nervous in front of exams and couldn't set my mind to it. In the years following till my graduation from high school I used it to release stress and it really worked. All the time it sat right next to my books and always when my mind tried to confuse me, I took it in my hand and would squeeze it.
I kept it all the years, but with moving it disappeared in one of the "memory" boxes until last week. It was a hard time to find it, but brought also a lot of memories back, so the search was worth it.
Now, it is placed next to my keyboard and when I feel the urge to eat something I grab it and play with it. This gets me so distracted from food, that I won't eat anything! A real WooHoo for me. And it even works when I'm in the struggle to find the right sentences for my thesis or have to decide which (theoretical) road to take!
