Hooray -- subtle manipulation is working

Having raised teenagers, I'm more into subtle manipulation rather than actual demands. I wasn't sure whether a gift card for personal training at the local gym would be received as an insult or just enough spark to get someone moving.
We all know we can't force someone to do something that's good for them, but really, who is affected most when that same obese couch potato gets their diabetic foot amputated or suffers a stroke?
Yes, that's right. The spouse. I spent 10% of last year nursing an obese spouse back to where they could get up and go to the bathroom and fix their own breakfast on their own.
Yesterday I went with him to fill in the questionnaire for personal training so a trainer could be matched to his goals. Yes, he actually MADE SOME FITNESS GOALS.
