Grandchild visiting -- strawberries, banana bread and pastry piggies. A recipe for too many calories. I still eat compulsively when it comes to certain carbs -- breads and whipped cream.
I ate today's calories yesterday.
I spent the morning on SparkRecipes looking to makeover favories. Got the banana ginger bread from 225 calories per slice down to 81 calories per slice. Substitute applesauce and soy milk for sugar and oil; substitute spelt and millet flours for whole wheat flour. Wonder how it will taste the next time.
But the piggies are aptly named. Basically a pie crust rolled into a spiral filled with sugar and cinnamon. No, the only way that will have fewer calories is by not eating it. And that starts by not making it.
Strawberries and whipped cream. I've seen television ads for using a stick blender to make skim milk into whipped cream, but I've never successfully done it. Skip the whipped cream.
