Got my cardio in, but just barely.

Sunday, January 29, 2012

I've been sick for a few days now. I went to the doctor Thursday, which I NEVER do, and he said I had tonsillitis. I wouldn't have bothered with the doctor, or the expense, but there have been a few cases of strep in the area that is the strain which causes heart disease. There's one guy who's 28 that now has heart issues because of strep throat. I may not like the doctor, but with the heart history in our family, its not something I'm willing to risk. Funny, THAT gets me to the doctor, but being morbidly obese the majority of my life never seemed to sink in. Ah, denial! Don't ya just love it? lol

He put me on antibiotics just in case, so at least it won't turn to strep. I didn't do any exercise at all Thursday, so Friday I had 2 days of JJC videos to do. Both were strength training, so it wasn't too terribly bad. I did each one twice, but it took me all day to do it. lol I wanted to get my cardio in yesterday, but there was no way. Swallowing hurt, so there was no way I was going to do something that made me breathe harder and risk drying out an already painful throat.

It felt a bit better today so we got the grocery shopping done earlier. I should have done my cardio this morning, but no. I'm lazy so I procrastinated all day. I did the elliptical tonight instead. I did 70 minutes, which SOUNDS really impressive, but it wasn't. lol Any time I started to breathe a little heavy, I had to slow down. Good thing I didn't have to talk, because I don't think I could have. lol Because of the slow pace, I wanted to go longer to compensate, but I had to stop. Even with 32 oz of water and chewing gum the whole time, my throat is dry and scratchy. Its just a constant burn right now. :( Oh well, at least the workout is done. I'll drink a hot cup of coffee and see if that soothes it at all. I should really stop being lazy about it and just do it in the morning. I don't know what the deal is with a sore throat, but its always worse at night. Is there some scientific reason for this? Hmmm....

Anyway, I'm taking my sweaty self to the shower and then that coffee. I can't seem to sleep anyway, so I don't think the coffee will matter.

I know this sounds like a very negative post. But really, its not. Even with this annoying pain, I still managed to get my workout in. I'll let you know if I'm paying for it tomorrow though. lol

Have a great night everyone!
