Hi all! Things have not improved much around here, but I'm muddling through it. I still have severe pain in my lower right abdomen, so I have started my rounds of doctors appointments all over again. Yesterday I met with my OB/GYN and I think I am finally in the right place. She agreed that I was definitely having a GYN issue, but we just had to figure it all out. It could be a range of things, such as scar tissue left from my previous c-sections. It could be that my right ovary is not functioning correctly, although it actually looks normal on ultrasound. It could also be a thyroid issue (which after telling my mom this, I find out that both of my grandmas have been on thyroid meds since they were in their 20's!).
So, to start trying to correct things without going into surgery, we have started with changing my birth control pill. Since I have high blood pressure she started me on a low-estrogen pill last February. She thinks that the progesterin (?) in that pill may be causing pain in my ovary and that a high estrogen pill could possibly fix that, even if that means I need to increase my blood pressure meds.
I also had blood work done yesterday to see if anything is abnormal with my thyroid. That could explain my stagnant weight loss (despite working my butt off over the last year), my fatigue, my strange periods, and a myriad of other symptoms that fit hypothyroidism. So we shall see pretty soon on that one.
I'm trying really hard to accomplish things today and not crawl back into bed like I have been doing recently. I'm so wiped out that I'm barely functioning. So, I'll probably hit the hay pretty darn early tonight to make up for no nap, but I have to start being an adult again - take care of my house better, be coherent for my kids again, everything that I used to do and not need a nap! :-) So, in light of that, I better get of the computer and get my but moving before I fall asleep in my recliner. Ha! Hopefully something will change in the next few weeks - wish me luck!
