I did my first Kettlebell workout!
Monday, March 12, 2012
So I was going to post this yesterday after my workout, but got busy and didn't get it done. This actually works out better though, because now I can document the "day after" aches. lol
So I got a 7 lb kettlebell yesterday and did the Bob Harper introduction video. It's a 30 minute workout and it's nowhere NEAR a walk in the park! When you watch it (ON2VICTORY has it posted on Youtube) the first time, it really doesn't look like it'll be very difficult. And then you do it...
Throughout the majority of the workout, you're essentially doing squats. We all know that'll kick your butt all on its own. Then, just to be evil I'm sure, he's thrown in some jumping jacks and some one-legged balancing rows.
I got through the workout and felt great! It's difficult, but doable. If you can't keep the same pace, do the best you can and build up to it. I did okay keeping up, but I did skip over half the jumping jack time. He said it was to keep our heart rates up. Well mine was already pounding out of my chest, so I was good. lol
Now this morning, I knew my legs would be sore. They are. lol But the biggest surprise was the soreness in my back! Not like back pain, but the muscles on the sides and around the back of my abs are aching! I may actually end up with abs out of this!!!! lol
I'm going to do a Youtube search and see if I can find some more workouts. I think I'm going to try and incorporate the kettlebell into my workouts twice a week. Then I can do two days of Brazil Butt Lift, two days of Kettlebell and I'm shooting for at least four cardio days a week. We'll see how it goes.
Speaking of cardio, my recent yearning for elliptical/cardio time has seriously paid off. I crossed the 80 lbs lost mark last Monday, and today officially put me at 85 down!!! I haven't been this size in about 15 years, and I can't wait to get to 195. That's what I was when I got pregnant with Taylor in 1995. I don't know what the deal is with this new burst of energy, but I'll take it!
Over the 4th of July week, they have a sort of festival. Its called Sundown Salute and one of the week's events is the Coors Freedom Run. There's a 5k and a 10k. My goal is to get my 5k walks into more of a 5k jog and I'll sign up. I've got about 4 months to get there (3 months till sign-up time, I think) so I'll be working toward that goal as well.
Alright, I need to get some work done now. Have a great day everyone!
