CASEYTALK
Interesting link. I've lived in many countries around the world and currently reside in Ecuador. I clicked on your link and looked up 'Bulgaria', where I lived in the mid-eighties. It didn't mention there that Bulgarians shake their heads to mean 'yes' and nod to say 'no', which is the opposite of most countries where I've been. It's particuarly awkward that the word for 'no' in Bulgarian is 'nay', while the word for 'yes' in Greek is 'nay'. Crossing the border, then, you have people nodding and saying 'nay' on both sides, but they mean exactly the opposite. I nearly broke my neck several times trying to figure out which I was supposed to do when!
