Why is consistency such an issue for me?

I wouldn't dream of going a day without brushing my teeth. Other than that, I can't think of anything else that I do consistently. Thinking about it, I realize I don't even watch a tv show for more than one season. There are exceptions but most of those shows have changing cast members, like Project Runway and the like.
I've not taken my vitamins and supplements in months now and when I do take them, I usually last about 2 weeks before I start to taper off , then stop altogether. My history with regular exercise is similar.
Should I spend my energy trying to figure out why? Will knowing why lead me to a "cure"? Or should I look for strategies to work within this trait, like finding ways to keep exercise new and different?
I'm going to join a gym tomorrow and because they have so many options, maybe I can keep moving to something different. I plan to start with a couple of group classes, then maybe change classes or start using the pool. At any rate, I have to do something so...
