Spark Solution Week #1
Sunday, May 19, 2013
It's hard to believe the first week of the Spark Solution challenge has come and gone. My reason for starting was to see what could be different from other plans and to continue on my journey of getting healthy as I get older.
The biggest change for me has been in how my clothes fit. I was very comfortable in my dress clothes in church this morning.
My favorite part of the plan is all the different foods I have tried (although I did not try them all) and the fact that I now have lots of meals in the freezer for later. The best recipe is the Breakfast Oatmeal cookies because I am always looking for new ways to get the oatmeal in so the cholesterol stays in check. That was one of the reasons to join Sparkpeople in the first place. I was too stubborn to go on Crestor so I needed to find another way to live. It's funny that I read on here that one person fed those cookies to the birds and I made them another time which is what makes it neat to have so many options.
The exercises were a little too much for me but I just found other ways to get moving. I was following the schedule for a 5K Walk (which I did do on Friday) in honor of my 72nd birthday which will be tomorrow.
My favorite insider tip was to divide up leftovers and put them away before eating my meal which is how I ended up with those meals in the freezer for later. No temptation to keep eating.
Next week I will try to be a little more daring in my food choices and try more new things. Also will get out those Sparkpeople CDs that I have and keep moving!
