When Worlds Collide....

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

I have come along way with healthy living as far as food is concern. I realize I have more to learn....more to do. I am comfortable with the healthy guidelines with nutritional benefits. I still need to work on eliminating all the unnatural sugars and work on my variety of choices. I know this. I have this in the back of my mind and trying to it bring forward. I am a little overwhelmed at the moment, so, it is on the back burner, waiting to come forward to a boil.

In the meantime, I am adding fitness to my to my day.

I really have been intrigued with the active link. I read every review I could find and have spoken to those that have it. I have found that it is one of those things you either love or hate.

The biggest complaint I have heard/read is that it is rather stingy on rewarding activity points. People are working hard....and not being rewarded.

Okay....

could be a glitch......in some cases......

Yet.....

I have come to my own conclusion....

I like to think I EARN abundance of those bad boys. I probably do compared to others since my job is more on the physical side as opposed to a desk job. HOWEVER.....my day is my BASE where my activity begins. My body is USE to earning those points. In order for me to TRULY earn those activity points....I have to do MORE.

It is like the daily allotment of calories/points one has. There is maintenance....there is losing mode....and....something I cannot relate too....the GAINING PHASE! LOL!

So tell me? Why is fitness not the same ideology?

I say it is.

Yes...one can get healthy ....with food.....the choices and the mode you are in. If you don't follow your range, it will catch up with you.....as with fitness.

I think some people use fitness as a reason to up their points for more food. The danger in that thinking is that ....people tend to over estimate their activity. I know I was guilty of that till just recently.

My friend Susie and I are doing the same workout program. She saw that I claimed 6 ap's for the half hour...while she said 4 for herself. Looked it up in that wonderful green book for the 360 program.....and we were both wrong. I would love to think I was HIGH INTENSITY....because...HEY...i
t was HARD...and I DID IT! LOL! Yet...truth be known, I am NOT a marathon runner...hence...it is more moderate. SO my 6 ap's went to TWO aps. Rule of thumb in most cases....a half hour is 2aps.

Love my pedometer, but then again, my workday alone will earn me 7500 to 10,000 steps without too much effort. AM I EARNING THOSE AP'S?

No....that is my base...my normal.

So....how to TRULY earn those fitness minutes?

I workout in the am before work and I am walking in my down time at work. That is above and beyond my base line.

I never understood before .....pushing yourself to the max in workouts by adding heavier weights or a poly to the routine.....I mean....it hurts as it is! Yet...now I understand PUSHING yourself even though you feel like you are going to die.

Once I get to my goal weight......I realize I have to modified my point intake and still maintain a certain level of fitness.

It is so mind boggling..........

Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed......

and yet......food/fitness are like two worlds colliding.....to form one.....

and that one....is ME.

I know how it is when someone else does a routine and burns 800 calories and I only burned 35...but I'd rather put the lower amount down and be safe than the higher amount and never lose any weight! On a normal work day I can easily get 7000 steps but my body is used to it so it isn't considered exercise to me. IT's nice to know someone else is in the same situation!

The thing I did like about the Active Link, was that you wore it a week before you started seeing what kind of Activity Points you were getting. So it gave you a great base line to start with. But then that was just me.

Hey I wonder if I could just give you mine? Not sure. If you want to see if that works you are welcome to it.
