Sweating to the Oldies....

I have been doing Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution for quite some time. Once I master a level I go forward. This 90 day program is going to be more like two years for me! LOL!.....seriously...though...
it is. I make sure I can do the days 100% with the harder moves...weights...etc.

Last week was a new level. A new level of pain! I knew I was in trouble when the warm up was jumping jacks! Yet...I reminded myself that before I couldn't do what I can now and built my way up. This insane. One move is to be on your knees with your legs behind you...your arms are above your head with weights and you are to get up each leg at a the weights and go back down. The ppl in the dvd was an awesome pretty sight. I on the other hand...was not. I don't know about you...but....when I am on the floor...I need my hands/arms to get me back off the floor! I tried it without luck.

I hurt myself. My back hurt and so did the area above my butt! LOL!

SO...this week....I decided to do something EASIER till I healed! I will go back to Body Revolution....and will just have to go more slowly till I can build up. SO...what to do?

LOL....Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies. I have them on VHS. Wasn't sure the tape would be good after all these years or not. Was a little irritated that I had to rewind the tape...HA!


Richard Simmons looked so super young! Had to been in the 80's with the hair and clothes! I felt at home! LOL! was TAME from what I am use too. It was. I almost didn't finish it out of boredom. It was 40 minutes long. I am use to a more fast pace workout. Then...I remembered...that this WAS MY WORKOUT and it was what I was to make it. So.....the ppl on the tape were having really pushed myself with tons of energy and got into it.

I never broke a sweat and my breathing was never labored. I have progressed that far in working out.

The difference in the two workouts...besides intensity....was the approach. Sweating was fun. BR was focused and concentrated.

Today at work.....I worked on my steps when we were slow. Before....I would get 3000 steps in 30 minutes. Now I am at 4000 steps. Quite a pun intended.

Once my back is not so painful...I will go back to the harder workout for me....and yet....thinking once a week..should do the made me feel.....YOUNG.......and....I did SMILE a lot while doing it.

I guess what I am trying to say.....never get discouraged......there was a time...I wouldn't do ANYTHING and FORCED myself to do something. Now....I like it and feel off if I don't. When my body won't let me..then do something easier till it can. When something is too hard and seems impossible...Time is on your side....because you will catch up eventually slow and steady. I am stronger......and I intend to grow as time goes on.

    I love the "sweatin to the oldies" DVD's. The music is great and the workouts are low intensity, fun and , as you said, you just push yourself harder if ya find it easier to do them. However, they are perfect for me. My push harder workout is the treadmill.

    I lost a lot of weight to Sweatin to the Oldies. It wasn't hard, but it sure was fun. I could probably still do all the moves without much thought. I'm so proud of you and all that you have accomplished. I hate jumping jacks. They make me have to tee tee! You be careful and take care of that back.

    I love my Sweating to the Oldies and literally wore out my VHS so my DD's family bought me the whole set on DVD. It has a lot of new info from Richard and I love the set. No, it's not as strenuous as some exercise DVS's but hey, it's far better than being a couch potato and it is fun!

    I am considering bringing out Richard this summer; I loved the Zumba classes that I sat in on, but am not sure I want to put out the $$$ right now. I have like 5 Sweatin' DVDs, so I could change them up.

    I used my Richard Simmons DVDs frequently in the winter when I didn't get outside much, and like you, love the energy and enthusiasm on the screen. It never fails to motivate me. Success with the oldies 2 years ago gave me the courage to start Zumba, which is a challenging work out for me.

    I have not done much in the way of *work-outs* per say.
    I love my daily swim and I love to walk. When we are camping and I go sightseeing...I love the hikes up mountain sides to see water falls etc.....I love to mow my lawn and get up and down in my gardens weeding and I love doing housework in my house with my two sets of stairs!
    But *work-outs*....are just NOT up my alley, I guess!
