Almost time for school to start. I attended a meeting about a new grading system that is being implemented. They are testing it out at School A and planning to implement it throughout the entire school district next year. Instead of A, B, C, D the kids will get a 1 through 5. I got home and found a letter in the mail stating that my oldest daughter has been accepted at School B. We requested the transfer because our Mags is starting preschool. I have to pick her up at 3:00 and then pick up Lydia at 3:05. I would not have been able to do so if Lydia attended School A. She's happy with the news.
I came home to a Kale Bean Soup in the crock pot. It isn't my favorite, but I was hungry so it did the job.
I have decided to enroll in college (I already have a degree) in the hopes of finding more career opportunities when my girls are both in school full time. I start in the Spring.
My goal for this weekend is to come up with some tasty and healthy lunch options for Lydia for the upcoming school year. Our schools do a pretty good job with their lunches but sometimes she likes to pack. The school she will be attending works with the University of Iowa's agriculture department to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for an afternoon snack for the children. Yay!
Oh, I also found and bought a sweet little dress for Maggie to wear to my sister-in-law's wedding in September. She had purchased one for her but it didn't fit. When she returned it they did not have the right size. So, the girls' dresses won't match but they are similar enough to keep the bride happy. Plus, the dress was on clearance and I got free shipping. Wins for all!
