Non Scale Victories, key to being healthy

A new Spark Friend of mine shared a picture of herself in a new pretty dress in a smaller size as a non scale victory, NSV, and she looks great. A guy friend from a Spark Team recently posted some pictures of what the exercise has done to his body and the definition is amazing! Again a super NSV. It is starting to sink into my thick skull that it may be the visible steps to health that may or may not show up on the scale that will make this a lifestyle change for me.
One of my non weight related goals is to be able to purchase pants in any store in America that carries men's clothing. If I had to put a number to that goal then I need to wear a size 38 or 40 jean. This time when I began this journey my jeans were a size 54 and getting tight. Now at 50 pounds down my size 48 jeans are starting to hang and I've got some 46 that I can put on but are just a pinch too tight. My work shirts that were a bit snug now hang on me like a bag. This morning on a lark I put on a jacket that I purchased 10 years ago that did not fit even then, and now I can easily zip it up and cross my arms comfortably in this garment.
On the fitness side of things I can now walk the entire length of my building and not be out of breath. In fact I can go from one end of my campus to the other and not have to stop or feel like I'm going to pass out. Seeing the computer guy passed out in the hall would not impress the teachers or students. On Friday nights I can carry my broadcast gear up the bleachers to the pressbox and not be panting and faint. My teen Son even commented the other day on my fitness, "nice guns Daddy". It may be time to change my profile picture where I'm sitting at the console in a radio studio. I'm about 12 pounds lighter and neither that shirt or pants come close to fitting now.
Yes smaller scale numbers are fun and great, but honestly it is the NSV along the way that is keeping me on track longer than in the past. Do you have any that you wish to celebrate? Hey, I'll celebrate them with you, I do not care how silly!!! I may find your NSV even more motivation than my own. We can do this!
