White Elephant items and Charades
Sunday, December 22, 2013
We arrived a little later than I wanted but DH was being a slow-poke.
He had been so excited earlier but just couldn't get it together.
It was a small party but still lots of fun with charades and all
the ugly sweaters we were wearing. You couldn't say "Christmas"
or you had to take a drink. Most of us were drinking water so
it wasn't a big deal. The snack trays were full of healthy and not
so healthy. I tried to still to the better choices.
After charades, we opened our White elephants gifts. Each
person had a number and could chose a gift. You could
keep what you chose or take away someone else's gift if
you liked it better. I came home with a soft pair of socks
and some Cherry Blossom cologne. DH acquired a glass
drink dispenser that holds 1.25 gallons. He plans to use it
for ice tea next summer.
Today was church and coffee hour. Then I made meatloaf
and baked potatoes with sautéed carrots and leek.
Tonight was the congregational Christmas service. GD
played the interlude-15 minutes which is a long time
for an 8 year old. She played very simple Christmas
songs but it was so lovely. GD and GS recited Bible
verses and sang several songs. The older boy in
Sunday School read several passages as did other
members of the congregation. After the service, our
pastor and wife served a light lunch and we sat and
visited for about an hour.
Now I am home contemplating all the gifts that need
to be wrapped but that will be tomorrow night's
Have a great Monday and thanks for stopping by. HUGS!
