5K here I come

I just started week 5 of the SP Rookie 5K training program, and it feels so good to be making progress with running again. I've used this program in the past, so I know it works for me. I have my eye on a couple 5Ks later this spring, and meanwhile I can just work on building my endurance back to running without having to stop. Hopefully I can chip away at my time before the race happens too. It's still a goal of mine to run a 5K under 30 minutes. Maybe this will be the year!
I also got to play some tennis yesterday, which was a nice surprise. I went to practice with the ball machine, and it wasn't working, but another beginner student offered to hit the ball around with me. We played for an hour and decided to meet up next week too. It would be great to have a tennis buddy, so I'm hoping it works out. I love it when exercise doesn't feel like work!
I'm doing Body Pump classes a couple times a week now - I had never tried it before, but it's a full-body group strength training workout using current pop music. Each muscle group is set to a different song. Music makes a huge difference in my workouts, and my gym isn't always the best at incorporating music from the last 10 years, so this has been great. It also takes the guesswork out of weight lifting, which is so helpful.
Well I may be unemployed (temporarily), but at least I will hopefully be buff when I start working again. I just hope neither of those things will take too long! sigh. Have a great day all!
