I read the other day that "summer bodies are earned in the winter." I had never heard that before, but it makes a lot of sense. Usually, I plan to be fit in the summer but don't start working on it until May-ish... a heck of a lot less helpful than starting in January like I did this time around, so I really hope these efforts pay off. Now is the time to hit the gym hard!
Also, supposedly the temperature will climb over 50 here next week! And we're not supposed to have any more subzero days until next winter. I am so ready for that! Daylight savings time starts in just a few weeks, and then spring will officially start a couple weeks later, and then not long afterwards it will be April already. We are already over the winter hump, I think.
I'm excited about getting more fit and the idea that the fat I melt off will be replaced by muscle that's going to help me run faster and improve my tennis game. If I can hit the ball harder and have less bulk to hustle around the court, it'll make me a better player, which is great. It's empowering to look forward to not just looking slimmer, but being stronger.
