The number 3 Healthy Lifestyle Habit

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

3. Avoid skipping meals. A study conducted by researchers at Cornell University showed that prolong periods of food deprivation tend to lead people to make unhealthy food choices and increase the attraction of unhealthy foods, while consuming regular meals promotes healthy food choices later in the day. Shaun Hadsall recommends eating smaller portion meals four to five times a day. This helps keep the hunger feeling at bay and reduces the urge to eat unhealthy snacks between meals since you tend to find yourself in a groove of regularly planned healthy meals each day that maintain a healthy energy level even as you consume less calories.

This is 100% true. There is so much controversy about HOW often to eat -- and I think it's so much a product of listening to your body, then doing what you need! I used to eat 3 meals/day, now I do the mini-meals too and it is the best for my diabetes. I too used to be a "meal skipper" and boy does it end up in disaster!

    Thank you for this information.
