When I chose to clean up my life and to begin my journey to become mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically healthier, I was somewhat unaware of the amazing blessings that would follow. I knew life could and should get better, but I underestimated the joy of each and every day. Don't get me wrong. Life is still hills and valleys, high hills and deep valleys. But, I accept that now, and look for the small miracles and have gratitude for God's grace in my life.
Oh, what I could have missed.......Oh, what I could have missed!!!!!
As I share this I am leaving for a 4 day trip to Sacramento to visit my favorite aunt (my "mom"). She is 81 years YOUNG and has just downsized and moved from the Silicon Valley to a senior community outside Sacramento. I visit her at least 3 times a year and can't wait to see her new digs. I could have missed a relationship with her and my cousins had I continued on the path I was on a dozen years ago. My boys are all coming home to be with my husband while I'm gone (when the cat's away the mice will play?) But, what a blessing to be an active mom for my grown boys.
I am also sharing a picture of my two grand children from last week when we babysat. I could have missed the indescribable elation I feel when they wrap their arms around me and yell "gra-ma, you're here!" Ahhhhhhhhhh!
Our good health is so very much more than the number on the scale or the size jeans we buy. We all know this, but it is finally becoming a deep thread in the fabric of who I am.
I have a LONG way to go to be the healthiest me, but instead of bemoaning that, I am now excited for the lifetime challenge.
Thank you for letting me share, Sparkfriends. We are all in this together.
Hug,
Leslie
