My husband and I are currently staying at my in-laws house and doing some work to help out. Since we are in a small town with a limited choice of food, I eat what is cooked. I'm eating highly processed foods. My mother in law does the shopping and the cooking (except breakfast) and she is so kind and considerate but adamant about her way of doing things. There is a Wal-Mart with a limited deli and when I asked for uncured ham the guy looked aghast and refused to believe there was such a thing. just feeling a little discouraged.

my family pretty much knows what i avoid and what i eat. whatever the situation i will bring a few dishes of my own to make sure there's something that i can eat which is never a problem for anyone since they can eat it too.
if it were me... i'd let my inlaws, especially MIL, know that i'm going to the grocers to pick up a few things for thanksgiving and ask if there's anything they'd want for me to pick up for them. that way they'll know to expect i'll be making a few dishes of my own. i'm sure even in a small town, there's still some dishes you can make to bring it close to paleo. all the best! 2263 days ago
