Here's my first blog as MadeInBritain!
As most people who know me are fully aware I am competing in the London Marathon this year. My very first marathon and something I've wanted to do for years and years. As a 'see how you get on' warm up I entered the above named event on the Kent Coast to see what I am currently capable of.
Very nervous initially

as I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew I'd be very slow but the course consisted of 5k loops and you could do as many or as few as you felt like. I'm mostly a walker and eventually settled down to enjoy the views

This is the Viking Ship The Hugin which the event was named after

although sadly it was covered over due to the weather/season I guess
I carried on through the Nature Reserve/Pegwell Bay

and decide to try to complete 4 laps - the equivalent of a half marathon. My phobia is mud and I had to tackle my fears to get through!
My 4th lap was a struggle to put it mildly but

I finished eventually

And this is what it was all about - check out the medal!

So all in all a great day (considering I was still recovering from a cold/flu virus I've been battling for over a week)and with some more training I should be ready to rock at the London Marathon in April!
