Yesterday I was working online and my internet shut down. So I go check the TV... and no connection there either. I called Charter Cable and there was an issue in my area they were working on. Usually that means 1-3 hours of down time, and usually that means just one or the other, but not both. It ended up being out until 5am this morning!
I had to find other things to do for what I thought would be 1-2 hours of no cable. So now what? I went into the spare bedroom I have set up as a gym and took a look around. It's been all organized and ready to go for months. Unfortunately, I've never got in there and seriously played with all the equipment, since I set it up.
I figured I'd better make good use of my time and workout for a change. Not just a few minutes, but really get into testing out how de-conditioned I am now.
I used the Urban Rebounder, the spin bike, the kettlebell, free weights, resistance bands and the Gazelle Glider. I also did some calisthenics and stretching afterward.
I had such a great high afterwards! It was fun to just take my time, take notes and 'play'!
Now.... what to do next? It's amazing how much time I spend on the computer or catching up on DVR recordings late at night. After working out with all the different equipment, I sat out on my deck and enjoyed the afternoon sun. That was a real nice way to relax. Every time I've been in the mood to just relax and enjoy my deck and view, something or someone gets my attention...or it's raining. I've decided I need to make an appointment with myself everyday to just get out there for a few minutes and meditate. It's different than meditating in a quiet room and I like the change.
The rest of the night I just did some organizing in boxes to be put in the garage, reading, playing with my two cats, made a couple of phone calls, prepared my veggies and other food items.
It was fun to get away from the computer for a change.
The connection going out on my TV and Computer was exactly what I needed. I felt like I really accomplished a lot, and got a better sense of where I am physically... going through a lot of different types of exercises. It was nice to just take my time and have fun with it. Nice not to feel pressured to get some kind of exercise in, before this or that interruption. I haven't liked the idea of working out in a long time. I'm so out of shape and don't feel up for it. THIS way of approaching it was what changed my mind and attitude about it. Years ago, when I was fit, I used to workout for hours and hours. If I wasn't able to workout, I felt very out of sorts. I really loved it. It's amazing how different I am now, and how I have to start from ground zero. I never would have thought I'd be in this situation, but that's life.
So yesterday was my FIRST OFFICIAL DAY of working out. I didn't get to serious or crazy into it, because I just wanted a sampling of how I feel. I sure didn't want to over due it (like I usually do when I first start out) and be so stiff and sore that it discourages me. Now this afternoon and going forward, it's time to get serious and be on a schedule.
If it weren't for the cable connection going down, I wouldn't have had as nice an afternoon, and evening as I did. I really feel like I'm rebooted....and ready to go!
I even went to bed at a normal hour... 11pm! I normally stay up until 3-6am, so that was awesome! I slept pretty good and I'm not even sore today. I feel better today than I normally do, so I'm going to try to keep this momentum going!
I can't wait to feel like my normal, strong, unstoppable, self again. I miss her.
