You can heal your life

Friday, July 31, 2015

This is the title and philosophy of a new spark team that I just formed. This team www.sparkpeople.com/mysp

is based on my viewpoint that the unhappiness in our lives is caused not by the events in our lives, but by negative thoughts brought on by these events, many of which occur very early in our lives. My feeling is that we often are defeated by bad thoughts that have been wired in our subconscious mind. I am seeking to clear my mind of unhealthy thoughts, such as "I am not good enough", which tend to prevent me from reaching my goals. I believe that we learn best by seeking knowledge of others and then living it while teaching that knowledge to others. You don't actually know something until you actually live it and can teach it to others.

I have been influenced most by the teachings of Jesus as contained in the bible, by Leo Babauta of Zen Habits, and by Jonathan Lockwood Huie. Lately I have opted to consider authors such as Andy Shaw of "Creating/Using a Bug Free Mind" and Louise Hay of "You Can Heal Your Life" who preach that just as you attract negative events into your life by thinking negative thoughts, you can attract positive things into your life simply by thinking positive thoughts. Much of this "Law of Attraction" stuff seems too far out to me, but I am now following the exercises contained in those books simply to help rid me of much of the negative thoughts that cause me to become distracted from forming good habits.

I don't go so far as believing that we create "every so-called illness in our body" by the thoughts in our mind or that we can rid ourselves of disease by thinking positively, but do believe that our best chances of living a happy life in spite of our circumstances is to accept the unhappy thoughts that occur from our circumstances for what they are (mere thoughts). Nothing can prevent us from fulfilling the vision of living a life of happiness, in spite of our circumstances, by substituting positive thoughts for the negative thoughts.

However. as an example of where this philosophy could lead you if you believe in it, I quote from the introductory passage in the book by Louise Hay "Some Points of My Philosophy: We are each responsible for all of our experiences. Every thought we think is creating our future. The point of power is always in the present moment. Everyone suffers from self-hatred and guilt. The bottom line for everyone is, ' I’m not good enough.' It’s only a thought, and a thought can be changed. We create every so-called illness in our body. Resentment, criticism, and guilt are the most damaging patterns. Releasing resentment will dissolve even cancer. We must release the past and forgive everyone. We must be willing to begin to learn to love ourselves. Self-approval and self-acceptance in the now are the keys to positive changes. When we really love ourselves, everything in our life works." See Hay, Louise L. (1984-01-01). You Can Heal Your Life (Kindle Locations 126-138). Hay House. Kindle Edition. It is available free to those who subscribe to Kindle Unlimited. Whether you just want to free yourself of the negative thoughts that tend to distract you from creating healthy habits or strongly believe that you can attract a life of abundance with little effort by thinking positively, this group is created for you.

Love the blog! It is always healthier, but harder sometimes to look for the positives. Our society has focused too much on possessions not time spent doing activities with family and friends that promote wellness.

Thank you for sharing this blog.

Awesome. I is so empowering when we figure out that we are responsible for our own happiness -- not other prople, not events, not material things. WE are responsible by our thoughts for our own happiness!
