Recovering one step at a time

OK I lasted two weeks and three days without working out and I couldn't take it anymore. When the warden (my darling husband) left for work I snuck downstairs to my basement gym (a workout in itself with casts and crutches) and worked out.
My body needed it so badly. My back was starting to bother me from the immobility and I think I strained a hip flexor just getting out of bed this morning!!!
AND my dogs showed a bit of tough love this morning by refusing to let my husband take them out. This is normally my job and I guess they're sick of the new order so they stood their ground until I hobbled down the hall with them.
With the citizens revolting I figured I better take this recovery to the next level.
I did Kelly Coffey Myer's 30 Minutes to Fitness Split Sessions upper body (mostly while seated) and her Your Healthy Back (the floor exercises) and I was able to do almost everything. I'm so grateful because it felt fantastic after sitting around for two weeks. Both my feet are swelling like Bigfoot now but it was soooo worth it. I can handle 6 months of no impact as long as I can lift.
Oh, and if I every doubted that strength training burned calories, no more. 423 calories burned in a bit over an hour. Not bad at all.
