I want to start off by thanking everyone for their support and encouragement on my last blog! I haven't publicly talked about some of my journey before, and the responses were more than reassuring that I did the right thing by reaching out.
October 1st was a big day for me. My mom passed away a year ago on that day, but it also marked my 2 year sobriety date. I anticipated the day to be full of sadness, but it ended up being great. I went and got new clothes etc because most of the ones in my closet are too big at this point. It's time to move forward.
I read a quote today that said "doubt will kill more dreams than failure ever will". So that's my message to all of you. Don't ever doubt for a moment that you can't accomplish something that you set your mind to. Set goals, big or small, figure out the steps you need to do to accomplish them, and then DO them. One thing at a time. It might not all happen in the way you would ideally like it to, but don't let little details and excuses keep you from pursuing what you want. And the days you don't feel like it? Fake it until you make it. After all, the only thing in this world you can really change is yourself.
