The Fritos Made Me Do It

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

What goes up must come down right? I had a pretty great week last week and now I'm sliding downward. That's life, ride the waves, blog about the good, bad and the ugly.

This has been the worst allergy season for me yet. I've been through a few OTC meds and have been eating everything in sight the past two days. Whenever I have any kind of upper respiratory or sinus thing, I become RAVENOUS and nothing fills me up. DH has been buying treats lately which has not helped. UGH!

I finally went to the doctor today and he confirmed a sinus infection. After I finish these meds, I'm going to schedule a blood test to find out my allergies. I need to put a stop to this.

I missed lunch by going to the doctor so I came home sneezing and ravenous. I ate leftover tortellini followed by two cheese sticks, followed by a large piece of Portillo's chocolate cake DH bought yesterday, followed by half a large bag of Fritos while watching NCIS reruns.

A little while ago, I got a big glass of ice water, did a few jumping jacks in between sets of upper body strength moves for ten minutes.

Back when there used to be Spark radio, I heard Chris Downey talk about getting out of a slump by committing a small act of power like going for a short walk, getting a piece of fruit etc to get yourself back in a healthy frame of mind. That has stayed with me and served me well on many occasion.

I'm closing in on three years of maintenance so I am determined not to get sidelined!

Those darn Fritos can make you do it every time!! I think the difference and the plus side of all this is that you recognize the problem and are already thinking of ways to take back tonrol.... Even in the throws of the Frito, chocolate cake buzz!! What have I learned, what will I do next? Isn't that different from the past? I know it is for me!

Oh my. Half a bag of Fritos! I would have been right next to you, sister. I bet the water retention is brutal from all the salt. Wow. I envy you your binge and at the same time I feel your pain. Been there many times. But you are recovering quickly. Good job.

You can do it. You have been maintaining so well for 3 years. I also find that when I am sick or tired, is when you can get food cravings. I think doing one small thing makes you feel in control again. Hope you feel better soon.

emoticon Sinus infections are miserable. My DH and I have them all too often. Good luck with the allergy test when you have it done. I should do the same. Allergies seem to come with the territory of living in Ohio so I'm used to it after 30 years.

I had my fair share of oops moments with food in the past week. Today is day 1 of 3 days straight at the county fair for me. I am going to do my best with foods while there but I see a weight gain in my future. It really is like riding a rollercoaster when trying to lose or maintain weight!

Stay the course young lady! I love that mindset that you have, since you're closing in on three years of maintenance. You go, girl!

As for your allergies, have you tried local honey? I HAD year round allergies, until I was introduced to local honey. Oh my gosh! I barely have any allergies, and I no longer get sinus infections and it's AMAZING and I feel absolutely AMAZING. Would you like to hear more about it? Just give me a HOLLER if you do.
