Rebounding

Sunday, October 18, 2015

Those of you that read my last blog know it was a challenging week with a sinus infection. Blogging about it and reading other's blogs helped me get a grip.

I'm feeling much better today. While watching yesterday's disappointing Cubs game, I did a couple Spark videos and isometric exercises.

Today I pulled myself off the couch after watching a disappointing Bears game and went for just a short, slow run to see how I felt. It was good for the soul!

I returned a DVD to my library and set out on a path nearby that DH and I recently stumbled upon while bicycle riding recently.

At first I felt like Ben Grim from Fantastic Four, thundering along the path. The song Autumn Leaves by Paula Cole came on my playlist and I got my breathing under control and felt a little lighter as I paid attention to the scenery....

A little further along, Into The Mystic by Van Morrison came on and I almost felt the beauty around me, wondering why I had never wandered around here before....

Do You Realize by The Flaming Lips played and I enjoyed the moment I was in... "You realize that life goes fast, it's hard to make the good things last.."

Brighter Than the Sun played and I believe I saw a crane....

I felt good after an easy breezy 2.25 mile run. I'm toying with the idea of a half marathon. If you knew me, you'd be gasping loudly right now. I've never had a desire for a half or full marathon but I think it would be pretty cool to run the Detroit to Canada half marathon.

So we'll see. I have a year to work on it. First things first, work on a better nutrition week.

Nighty Night dear Sparkers!

Glad you are feeling better. Sorry for the stress from the job, though. It seems to come in waves. Up then down, then back up - only to find the slope down again. But we make it through the roller coaster. You will make it through. Keep finding the bright spots and keep the focus on those!

What a beautiful blog! And I love the idea of a half...I have a great book recommendation. It's called "Building Your Running Body " and has tons of great info including training programs and ST specifically for runners to prevent injury. Loving it!

    Kellie,

emoticon young lady, I'm so delighted that you're doing better. WOW! All of that scenery you showed is AMAZING! It makes me what to get up there and walk/run through the area, too. Keep me updated about your upcoming marathon.

    Blessings!

These photos are so beautiful. I know that Chicago will soon be bare and cold so I am glad for you that you had this great run--especially after an illness.
