Quick blog about my day as I am melting into my couch as I type.
This morning I ran a 5K with the running group to which I belong. We met at a local outdoor mall and began running at 1:45 am. That's right ladies and gentlemen, AM. Since today was the end of daylight savings time, our end time was BEFORE our start time.
The run benefitted the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research. One of our running group members is currently battling this debilitating disease.
I went to bed at 8pm last night and set my alarm for 12:30 am. When the alarm went off, I sat up in bed wondering why I agreed to this. And then I thought of Jimmy who was recently featured in Runner's World...
He was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2003 and his active lifestyle came to an end. He found himself at 240 pounds and walking with a cane. He read about a runner with Parkinson's and decided to try to get active again.
So when my alarm went off at 12:30 am, and I wondered what the heck I was thinking, I thought about Jimmy and all of the struggles he faces every single day and still trains to run marathons (he ran the New York marathon today). So I got up, layered up and met everyone at the mall. Everybody was so upbeat despite the time and the cold.
Afterward, we all went to Ihop for pancakes. I haven't been to an Ihop since I was a kid. It was wonderful!
I got home at 3am, crawled in bed and got up and got ready for a group motorcycle ride with DH and friends at 10. It was a B E A uuuuuutiful fall day, I wanted to but couldn't stay in bed and miss out on maybe the last ride of the season.
So in my immediate future, yoga Monday night, fitness class Tuesday night at Orange Theory Fitness. I can feel the changes in my strength and endurance after four classes!
Talk more later. I'm down to .2 gigawatts of power so my flux capacitor is fading.
Nighty night Sparkers!
