New Years Themes

New Years quotes:

For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice. ~T.S. Eliot

Tomorrow, is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one. ~Brad Paisley

We spend January 1st walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives...not looking for flaws, but for potential. ~Ellen Goodman

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do you make New Year's resolutions? I do not; stopped doing that long ago because every year my resolutions would be a distant memory by April.
Life doesn't begin January 1st, or when we lose X number of pounds, or when the kids get a little older and on and on and on. Life is happening right now and we need to take care of ourselves right now.
I read an interesting blog by Gretchen Rubin. She has "identified one idea, summarized in just one word, as an overarching theme for the entire year."
Her theme for 2015 was UPGRADE. She wanted to take several areas of her life to the next level. She wrote a book and released a popular podcast.
She has heard from people with their themes for the new year...Adventure, Renew, Energize, Bestow, Grace, Travel, Free, Rest, Finish.
So I think my theme for 2016 will be FORWARD. I've achieved several fitness goals so I want to keep moving forward, never slip back in my tv-watching-while-snacking ways again. I also want to stop looking back and dwelling on negative moments, live in the now and keep moving forward
Just like in the movie Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.....
"put one foot in front of the other and soon you'll be walkin cross the floor,
put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walkin out the door.
You never will get where you're going
If ya never get up on your feet.
Come on, there's a good tail wind blowin'
A fast walking man is hard to beat."
    Great blog!!
    I choose a word for the year as well. This year, mine is HOPE. Not so much for weight loss (I know I need to do more than hope for it). But for life in general. This has become such a dark, depressing world. BUT GOD can bring hope to the hopeless!! And I want to walk in that HOPE each day!!
    Thank you for running a great, inspiring team!! I feel blessed to be a part of it!
    I think you definitely hit the nail on the head with a huge SMACK! Forward to me means positive change, working to move pieces of our life to a healthier, happier condition. I want to move forward in measurable, meaningful, and in a Sparklove way! I want to feel eager to live this life to it's fullest!
    When you live One Day At A Time, resolutions are a daily commitment, not a yearly one.
    I agree. Live life will everyday. It makes no sense to wait until January 1st or any other day.
    A friend asked on FB what word we would close for the year. I am Roman Catholic and Pope Francis expiated this church year (started in November) to be the year of Mercy. I like that.
    No, I don't make resolutions for the new year, either. I never achieved any of them. I just take one moment a time, as God and I work His Plan, together! Besides, why do I want to write all those alustrous words down, when I'm not even promised the next day. Each day I open my eyes, it's a gift that God gave me and I thank Him for that. Sometimes I unwrap it like a kid at Christmas but most times I leisurely unwrap what He has for me that day. I always also say, "God this is Your Day. Help me find myself in Your Day."
    Blessings!
