After Almost 2 Years

Hello! Long time, no see. I've had an interesting couple years, but it's wreaked havoc on my health and I'm almost 30 pounds heavier because of it. I got a divorce, which sucked. I learned to live as a single mom. On the bright side, I've fulfilled a life- long dream to live in Seattle again. Goodbye, Texas! On January 4th, I accepted a position in management of two adult mental health units. One is acute and one is general. So I'm living where I've always wanted to live, and I have my dream job in Mental Health. I would love to get back into some kind of shape, and could really use the help. I've been browsing profiles and groups. Good to see so many familiar faces!

    Clearly I've let Spark slip over these last 2 years, so I didn't see your update. I'm sorry to hear about your divorce. I hope you have found the strength to step on the scale again. That is always the hardest part but a good first step.

    I am so pleased to see you landed on your feet. In a place you love.
    You have a new beginning, in a new place. That alone is a great place to begin again. Still doing church and still the same girl with a strong political belief or has that all changed as well?
    Change can be hard, but you know what works for you and you know how to go after it too. It can be more difficult to see the same sort of results from the first time around. You have support here. With many rooting for you as well.

    I had no idea your marriage was in trouble back when. Sorry to hear that.

    I loved Seattle when I visited! (An old college friend still lives there, in Phinney (sp?) Ridge. How nice for your skin to have all that moisture after Texas. And shade! And how lucky you are to enjoy using skills that travel so well.

    If you remember me, you'll probably know my bias for how to deal with food and weight, but a reminder: I don't set myself up to live a life carefully managing every bite just to meet a low weight goal. In fact, I don't set weight goals at all. I strive to keep eating from being a moral issue or reason to create drama in my self-acceptance. I set behavior/habit goals using harm reduction concepts and refine them as I go. It's still working, though my BMI never has gotten as low as yours did. I still get compliments. I tend to stay away from most teams, though, because there is too much talk of body dysmorphia and food fear. I don't see it bringing people peace or success except in the short run or in the very few.

    Welcome back! So sorry that you've gone through so much, but I'm sure you're excited for your future. I've also been away for around 2 years and let myself slide back because of insecurities I had. I'm tired of living my life according to what negative people think, so I'm taking it back and I'm glad to see that you want to do the same thing, take your life back.     Focus on the good things you have achieved and now its time to look after yourself, day by day, ensuring your eating is more settled (WRITE IT DOWN - sounds old fashioned but it works) and move whenever you can fit it in! emoticon emoticon
