Back on Track- No Drinking: Day 1

Thursday, March 10, 2016

I'm too scared to weigh myself, but I'm guessing I've gained 30-35 lbs over the last 2 years. I have GOT to get my butt in gear now so that I can enjoy life.

One habit I've picked up is drinking wine. It really lowers my inhibitions and causes me to snack and overeat in the evenings. So, since I'm having difficulty going back to how disciplined I was before, I'm going to focus on just one goal at a time. So my goal is 30 days- no drinking.

Eventually I will begin weighing myself again but I'm just not in a good place, psychologically, to do that right now.

I remember what happened when I stopped weighing myself and stopped tracking my food and started eating worse- I gained my weight back and more. I hope that doesn't happen to you! Hang in there and do the things you *know* work.

I have to admit that the wine is a weak spot for me too. Relaxing, yes, but I often end up pairing it with cheese and crackers, or an outright food binge. I too have been suffering from Scale fear. Up until today I though I had regained 20lbs when rally it was closer to 26. Still I am glad I finally stepped on. I needed the reality check and it good to know where you are starting from.
    Good Luck, You've got this!

I know exactly how that feels, not wanting to see the numbers. I'm definitely in a similar spot as well. I hope your month has gone well though. Rooting for you. :)

I think it's smart not to weigh, if that ends up being a burden. Ironically, I've started drinking a glass of red a day. I don't even like it that much, but it's been associated with Alzheimer's prevention, the ONE health issue that really scares me!

BTW, I hope you can find a way to enjoy life even if you don't get your butt in gear soon. emoticon It's okay to be happy even when things aren't going well! (I'm trying this out.)

I also think you probably look a lot better than you think you do. You are a beautiful woman! Try not to compare yourself to when you were at your lowest weight. But if you're talking about not feeling energetic because you are out of the exercise loop, I hear ya. I started with 4 minutes of vigorous exercise a day! Up to 10 most days and much more some days. It's amazing how much better I feel and with so much less effort than I used to put in.

emoticon alcohol makes healthy living more difficult.
It is not the calories it contains, but all the extra we eat after a glass of wine : )
