Last summer 2015, I was being debilitated by a bout of diarrhea, from June thru August. Just takes so much out of you!
On August 9th, the belly pain was severe, I was nauseous, and feeling extremely weak, so I told my husband I needed to go to the Emergency Room. There they quickly diagnosed a failing GallBladder and Kidney stones. Immediately had surgery to remove some of the kidney stones, both sides, and place stents.
Home the next day, to recuperate. Filled Rx for antibiotic, took the first pill, and within an hour was not able to breathe, passed out, and was headed, by Ambulance, back to the Hospital!
In September I had two scheduled kidney stone surgeries. Dr. amazed that my body is making stones so rapidly. There is a worthless talent! Can't craft anything with kidney stones.
Another kidney stone surgery in October, finds me filled with Sepsis. So scheduled Gallbladder surgery was postponed, till infection cleared.
Heart murmur is detected, so I begin round of cardiac tests, EKG' s, ECHO Cardiogram, Nuclear Stress Test, and a heart Catheterization, which showed no blockages, thankfully!
December was filled with tests and scans. In January 2016 I had Parathyroid surgery, that we believe will stop my body from rapidly making these kidney stones! Then at the end of January, I had what we hope, is my last kidney stone surgery.
Finally had much delayed Gallbladder surgery in March 2016 .
Home recuperating, thinking a long siege is finally over, but for the healing!
But not feeling better, lump formed at top of belly, hard, painful. Feeling I was getting sicker, not recovering! Went to the two week post surgical Dr. visit, asked about the hard lump, told it was just trauma from surgery. Continued to feel pain, discomfort, nausea. On April 5, in severe pain, wrenching dry heaves, I went to the Emergency Room, at my Dr. recommendation . Where I was quickly diagnosed with a hernia , and obstructed bowel. Had to be transferred to a hospital in Philadelphia, as they could get a team together quicker, and were able to perform a complicated emergency surgery. Surgery was 7 hours, removing several feet of dead bowel. Resuscitated twice, then trouble getting me off the breathing tube, several days in CICU, then ICU, then floor care, two weeks later finally home! Huge 13" incision, and 4 dangling drains, to care for, but glad to be home! I have both a Post surgical Visiting Nurse and Physical Therapist, that come to the house, about three times a week.
I am feeling very weak, tired, and going upstairs is a slow rough trip! Just getting a shower every morning is a major undertaking, requiring me to lay down afterwards.
Been a bad year. And I am depleted, run down, weakened, by feeling sick too long!
But I do feel stronger today than I did yesterday. So, I am getting better! Things are looking hopeful.
Praying for continuing healing and strength!
