in my garden

Wednesday, June 08, 2016

I got the lawn mowed and did a bit of weeding and such around my garden. My body is tired , but I am so full of energy. I took some pictures today, too.

My hubby's sunflowers are over 6 feet, they are above the fence line now...

the spaghetti squash has itself tangled high above in the tree....

and a closer look at the top

the lantana in the front of the house, I got one just as big along the side and in the back...

by the time summer is over this single plant will be well over 6 feet tall and 8 to 10 feet wide. The butterflies absolutely love it and we have them swarming in the late summer and early fall in droves. As are the hummingbirds. A lot of things we do and grow are for the butterflies and birds in our garden, I adopt anything that blooms, even it the wind brought it to our yard. We got a bunch of wild flowers every year and we nurture them so they come back. We get a lot of freebies from the birds, too as they drop seeds and such. We got a mulberry tree out that and lots of shrubs and oaks... even so the oak I can do without, we got plenty of those already. We are planning on adding nesting boxes for birds and bats, but haven't gotten around to it yet. The birds adapt and use the trees for now. When we do hang the boxes they thank us in time for it by eating the bugs. It all works the way it's meant to be.
