So though my last blog was in October, I think I need to go back to September 20th, 2016 to give you all a full picture of what's been happening. On September 20th my husband gifted me out of the blue with one of the best things he could have ever given me, a digital scale!
I had, had an old analog scale that I used faithfully but the measurement was so dependent on how I read it that I never trusted it fully. Anyway I got the scale and it struck me in the face with 184.4 lbs, 0.4 lbs more than when I started SparkPeople in 2013. It was a little discouraging but I now had an objective way in the form of my new scale to work to get to where I wanted to go.
The problem I was facing though was that I had very little time to exercise because I was staying at the hospital for longer hours and having to go in earlier and the time that I had to study was much less as well. I therefore sacrificed my exercise more or less for about 3 weeks-a month but during that time I really focused on my eating and before I knew it I was down to 171.4 lbs on the 22nd of October. That was 13 lbs in 4 weeks!!
I couldn't believe it but I sure was encouraged by it. I then decided that I missed my exercising too much and that it was worth the sacrifice of getting up a little bit earlier so I restarted the Focus T25 program so that I could get a
workout in, in a little time.
With that continued focus on my eating and restarting my exercise program I weighed in yesterday at 166.6 lbs. It was only 4.8 lbs this time but I am still more than grateful because I am absolutely loving what I'm seeing in the mirror. This I think is because I've lost inches too. On the 22nd of September, my waist was 36 inches, hips 43 inches, thigh 25 inches and upper arm 11 inches. Yesterday my waist was 32.5 inches, hips 41 inches, thigh 22 inches and upper arm 10 inches. That's 9.5 inches overall!! Now can you say
I am super excited by all this progress and super determined to keep it going!!
What has made such a difference you ask?! No excuses that's what! When I've wanted to sleep in instead of workout I've done it anyway, when I've wanted to eat snacks instead of veggies I've refused to bring them in the house so that I couldn't be tempted by them and when I've wanted to have additional servings at dinner I've put the food away. I know I've made it sound so basic but I think that's what we need to do sometimes. Make this thing basic because for me what it did come down to was my choices!! So many time we wonder "Why I am struggling so much?" "Why am I binging and eating what I shouldn't?" and we keep looking for some over complicated reason when really no matter what the external circumstances it ALWAYS comes down to our choices.
So that's what I want to share with you today. YOU have the POWER!!! It ALL comes down to whatever YOU CHOOSE so today let's CHOOSE HEALTHY because
