Round 2

We returned from a week in Kauai Hawaii last night. We’d never been to any of the islands so when we were presented the opportunity we jumped on it. Asked which island we wanted to go to, we had no idea, but I knew I didn’t want to just laze around on a beach. I knew that I at least wanted to snorkel, zip line, hike and go to a luau. We had no idea what expect but I don’t think either of us expected what we got.
It rained, A LOT. We’re used to winter rain and we were pleasantly surprised by how warm it was. But along with that, the high trade-winds and rough surf advisories, there would be no snorkeling or zip-lining for us. We saw a few sights and hoped to hike around Wimea Canyon but the rains left the trails a slippery mess. At least we had the luau to look forward to.
We were staying in Princeville which is high upon a bluff so we were safe from the three days of flash- flood warnings although the first day I questioned that. But the road out, in both directions, was closed on the day of the luau. Yep, that was a bust, too. At least they refunded our reservation.
All that being said, I’m chalking this up to a scouting trip. We know what we plan to do if we go again, and we know when we will not be going.
Spark has been on my mind for a long time, as my fitness has spiraled out of control over the last couple years. So during my down time, I logged into SparkPeople and I read (on my smart-phone, mind you) all of my previous blogs and the responses. So I figured it was a good time to re-Spark my motivation. That’s where you all come in.
Realizing how much support we were for each other made me understand how vital you all were to my success, and I think I helped some of you. And I want it back! So I reached out to my core Sparkers and here we are; ready for round 2, the “knock-out” round. Let’s do this!
