Snow Storm!

Friday, December 16, 2016

After being snowed in for 3 days and nights, I think I can finally get out of my house and on the road! one lane of our little road is plowed. I am craving fresh salad, and I need other supplies (coffee filters and coffee), so I am headed off to the grocery store, driving slowly and cautiously. It is snowing lightly again.

In the BIG snowstorm (Monday - Tuesday), the old record for one day snowfall was broken; that record had stood since 1924!

Here are a few photos

For some reason, the pine and juniper trees reminded me of my Japanese painting on silk.
(of bamboo and quince blossoms). Must be the lighting and the similar amount of snow!

The snow level is indicated by the outdoor furniture; it is over the level of the seats, and almost to the seat backs!

Love the ridges on the porch! (from the pergola above)

I usually shovel my driveway myself; this time I hired a man with a snow plow to do the job. Unfortunately the guy I hired slid off the road and he wasn't able to come. Luckily my friend Tony was willing to come over and use his snow blower.

I hope you are all staying warm and dry! Enjoy winter, whatever it brings!

Oh la la!!! Snow makes me dream in a way as we have so few of it here (and so rarely!)... but when I see your pictures, I can imagine how horrible it must feel to be snowed in! I guess you must always have in your house a little more food "just in case"? I would never think of that! I hope you don't have too far to drive to reach the shops.

First I like your goals for 2017 I never really did that perhaps I will.
Yes you have a lot of snow we had some but we had an ice storm I do not go anywhere in the ice so many accidents around here, plus you have those that drive so fast.Tomorrow will be all ice also so I will not be driving to church !! Take care and be careful When you venture out do you keep a blanket , water, flashlight ,batteries ,phone, flares ,and protein bars in your car? With so much snow you would not want to be stranded without these items .Take care keep warm my friend

    Hi Alison..........
Our snow storm started this afternoon and is supposed to last until late Saturday night. Then the winds are supposed to pick up and the temperatures are supposed to drop to -35 degree wind chill factors. I guess there won't be any cookies being baked and decorated tomorrow as the police are strongly suggesting that if it isn't an emergency, you should NOT be driving.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow.................. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yikes! I know it's pretty, but there's too much of that white stuff to suit me... Around here it'll blow in for a couple of days, then we're back above freezing again.

You live in such a beautiful town and house. I am jealous because I've never been 'snowed in' in my life. Be safe and warm and get some coffee!

Thanks for reminding me of one of the many reasons we left Colorado after sixteen years of that white stuff.
