feels like spring

We had such a warm day yesterday you wouldn't in a million years think it was December. The weather was nice and sunny overall the past few days, so yesterday we took advantage of it.
My nothing to do day turned into a very busy garden day.

We went ahead and started cutting down some of the trees that need trimming and cutting. It was grueling and we only started. There are a lot of branches that still need to come down and that is only in the back of the house, then we have to get to the front. Our first objective yesterday was to get the tree limbs away from the roof. The winds we had the past few weeks and that are yet to come remind us every time how needed this job was going to be. Two large trees had to come completely down and a lot of limbs ... now I have all those trees and branches in the back yard and the next few weeks I'll trim them all down, strip the small branches for the wood chipper and the larger ones will go under the chainsaw, the medium ones go under the hand saw; that is my favorite part.

I love hand sawing wood, it's relaxing and repetitive and clears my mind. It's done outside in fresh crisp air and it's a solitary job; what more can anyone ask for. There will be a lot of wood for next Fall/Winter fires to keep our home cozy and warm when the cold wind hits in January and February. In a week or so (after my hubby recovers his strength) we cut the next round of limbs down... or I'll do some of it if I can get away with it.
Meaning my hubby is so protective, he thinks I'll get hurt by just looking at the chain saw. I love him to death, but he'll be one of these days the death of me... figuratively.

This morning it's a lot chillier than it was yesterday, so I started my morning routine by riding my bike and having breakfast. It is amazing how fast one can get used to something. It's now 4 days that I got up in the morning and rode my bike first... even before coffee !!! Now I feel like I miss something if I don't ride my bike first. I love it!

I go walking somewhere between mid morning and early afternoon and one of these days I actually follow through on my plan to ride my bike again at night before I settle down with a book. So far the book won... but maybe tonight now that I put it out there. My bike rides are 20 minutes each and the walk around my block take me between 20 and 25 minutes. That rounds my exercise day to an hour. ... when I do them all and that is without gardening, So I should actually lose some weight this time around. Let's see... challenge me? You're on !!

    I am so jealous of your sunshine. emoticon We have nothing but rain and snow from October through June !! emoticon We have had rare days that it didn't rain, but we've had few sunny days since October. It sounds as if you got a lot done that needed to be done. It is great when we can get outside in the winter and get things accomplished. You sound as if you have a great morning routine !! emoticon Good luck with the rest of the yard work. I'm sure that it is the best exercise, especially cutting down tree limbs, trees and cutting everything up for use or disposal.
