Heading up north. . .

Sunday, January 01, 2017

I volunteered to go to upstate NY in the middle of winter. What was I thinking? Tomorrow I head out. I had a very nice holiday. All my children plus one of their spouses were here to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. 3 left for home today. One is left, and he heads out tomorrow evening. But, I have to leave tomorrow morning to make a connection with a ride up north. Part of my trip up north is to pick up my mother-in-law's car which she no longer drives and wants my husband to have. I'll stay with her for a month and then drive myself and my sister back home mid February.

The holidays were a time of feasting and now it's time for fasting. I did not count every calorie and carb. I did make some decent choices, but allowed myself some seasonal indiscretions. So now I have to set the holidays aside and get back to the business of health. I did remark to a family member that I find it sad that it takes such a long time to lose weight and you can gain it back sooooo easily. I have crept up about 8 pounds since my birthday and the season of succesive family birthdays and holidays commenced. Happy to still be in onderland, but just barely!!!!! I am going to use this time at my mother in laws as a rehab moment! Back to the business of fighting metabolic syndrome with the seriousness it requires.

I hope that when I land up north and get situated in a couple of days, I will get back to my Spark routine which helps with my healthy success. Until then. . . have a great start to your year and let's make 2017 our healthiest yet!

Safe travels for you. Hope you don't run into any bad winter weather on your trip. We are in the 40's today and suppose to have rain later this afternoon, on Wed. when we need to travel to Ann Arbor for DH's eye injections it's suppose to be cold, in the 20's and snow flurries, glad our DD is driving us, but if the roads get icy I'll call and cancel.

I bet a lot of that 8 lbs. is water and you'll get it off in no time.

Glad you had good holidays with your family.

    Hugs,

I hope you have a safe travel up North.
I 'found' some pounds too this Christas time but there is no need to hit ourselves with guilt over it; otherwise you remove all the fun!
But you are indeed right, it is time to get back to our routine and get serious again!
Looking forward to cheering you on in 2017!

Safe travels, Nancy. I did the same through the holidays. Admittedly, much was emotional eating & my body let me know it wasn't happy with my going off my new habits.

I am sure this time away will be a good environment to get back on track.

    Happy 2017!

P.Sandy. What WERE you thinking coming north in winter?!! Hehe...

The trip sounds like a great time for you to get back into routine! I bet you melt those 8 lbs and then some while you are gone.

What an adventure you have planned! I wish you safe travels and many blessings along the way, Nancy!

I'd also like to add that I doubt the majority of those 8 pounds is actual fat. For me the most difficult factor with metabolic syndrome is the inflammation factor that causes water retention at the drop of a hat. Gove yourself at least a week and I'm certain the scale will tell a whole different story! I'm on holidays for another week and then it's refocus time here, too.

Thanks for sharing the journey. I consider it a privilege to be walking a similar path with you... it gets lonely otherwise! We gave the Betrayal series away as Christmas presents to our parents, and all of our siblings, and a few nieces and nephews. Let's just say the response was underwhelming, LOL.
