What's new?

Not much! How do you blog when there's not much going on? I'll NIKE it. (just do it)
Let's see, where do I start?

Well, I have no scale to weigh myself on here at my MIL's. That is new and different. There is a small voice inside that says, "You're gonna gain weight!" There is another small voice that says "Won't it be exciting to see how much you've lost when you get back home!" An interesting exercise to be sure.

I'm doing an awful lot of sitting around here, that is no good, so I'm making little deals with myself you try and move more. I cannot relieve myself in the downstairs bathroom. I have to to upstairs. So I at least take the stairs several times a day. Better than nothing. Yesterday I walked around the stores for a couple of hours. Better than nothing, BUT, I know that I need to make more of an effort to get some serious exercise. I will try to get outside for a walk this afternoon.

Blood sugar was slightly elevated this morning. I'll have to cut back my carbs a bit further.

I'm going to stop this writing exercise right now because I'm boring myself! Gonna get out of my chair and go do some household chores.

If you read this, you can pat yourself on the back for "JUST DO IT" type discipline. Good for you! Have an awesome day!

Thanks for your comments on my blog. We went for that walk last night. It was good but it didn't help the dogs sleep at all. They were up at 1... BOO!

BUT your blog gives me an idea for tonight, I am going to climb my stairs for 10 minutes tonight. Basement to 2nd floor as many times in 10 minutes. Wish me luck!

Best to you, I too am married to my scale but wishing you the best. You already know it doesn't give you permission to go nuts and you won't! This will be your opportunity to gauge your progress by other factors, clothes, mood, energy levels. You got this!

See? It's when you think you've said the least that you get the most response lol
Go for a walk, that's always good and you always need it the most when you don't want too! You could also try to take the stairs 2 by 2 than 3 by 3. than up, than down..! =D
    You got this!

Getting cabin fever are we?? Can you join a gym or see if the local hospital or mall has a walking program--they are often free? Leslie Sansone walking DVD? What of Spark workout streaming? They have all kinds--even belly dancing LOL.

The scale experiment will prove interesting. Me thinks that you checking you BGL daily will help guide you to better food choice automatically. Last summer we were away for all of July and August so I was forced to practice intuitive eating. My goal was to maintain--miraculously I lost 2 lbs.

Naturally--- being active on site as much as possible will help. Thanks for writing.

Nancy, the blood sugar may be elevated because you aren't exercising as much as at home. Just a thought...of which I have many, most not worth the second they fly through my mind. LOL For those of us who are reading it, it is not boring but inspiring to figure out Plans B for when our normal routine or goals can't be met for one reason or another.

    Hugs!

That's why a lot of blogs are short as there just isn't a whole lot going on from day to day, can't say that this week though.

I am sure you'll come up with some inventive ways to solve those issues.

Is there a mall near by you could do some mall walking and window shopping?

We're going into the middle of Jan. so just hang in there.

    Hugs,
    Shirl

Sometimes NOT having a scale is a good thing. As you said, then you get to be surprised when you're home again and see how much you lost.

When I started this WOE, I left on a four week trip with my parents. No scale at the condo, and not much exercising. I found that I was eating more than I ever had BUT it was all good for me foods, rather than the filling/bad for me wheat and dairy products. I was nervous to step on the scale when I got home so it took a couple days to work up the nerve...and I had lost six pounds!

Okay... you're not going to last a month at this rate, LOL! You need some sort of purpose while you're there. What if you treated it like an actual vacation and got out and did some site-seeing (any drop-in physical fitness options near-by)? Would your MIL be open to a 'staycation'? Stuff she wouldn't normally even pay attention to?

And you know... this was pretty good blog... there're a number of things that bear pondering: EXCELLENT scale experiment... I can't wait to learn how much the number drops by the time you get home... great way to monitor carbs: blood sugar should (in theory) work just as well as the scale... I love a glimpse into your rich inner life (I wonder what other imaginary scenarios you might envision to get you moving in different ways).

Good on you for the 'just do it' attitude! I'm going to borrow a page form your book and go and some chore, too!
