being sore

today I went to my first yoga class. some of it was easier than I thought but other moves were hard. I am feeling it some in my upper arms and in my hips. I think i'm sore because I used some muscles that I don't normally use. i'm not sure if this is for me in the long run but I will try again in a few weeks. the reason i'm waiting is I don't want to be sore right before the long (about 1000 miles) drive. over spring break we (my sons and I) are going to visit family. we are taking one dog as he is on a lot of medicine and I want to be sure he is given the medicine. at least that should get me up and out for walks every few hours. my dad's house is in the country so i'm looking forward to the change in scenery.

back to yoga class. today we got on the floor and back up about 4 times. I wasn't sure if i'd be able to do that without some help but although i'm sure it wasn't a pretty sight, I was able to manage on my own. it is fun to try new things and challenge yourself. I tried tai chi for a while and might go back but for a while i'll only be doing the one class on Friday. hopefully I won't be sore tomorrow.

they say to keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is crazy. we need new things to keep us healthy in mind and body. so challenge yourself to something new and don't quit at the first sign of discomfort.

    Have you continued yoga? I'm trying to find a place near me to try. I ordered special thick mats to arrive in June, so I give myself til then to find a place. Good for you!

    A) congrats on taking the first step of actually making yourself attend. (I'm the world's worst bad influence on forcing myself to not flake.) B) yoga can only get better, so don't give up just yet. C) if you feel a lil self conscious about doing it in public, YouTube yoga with Adriene. She has TONS of beginner and basics/technique videos that you can watch and imitate in the privacy of your own home. Hope you continue on this journey and keep me posted! --Merci
