I was able to fit in a nice walk before the rain clouds open up (they are forecast and threatening, but no rain so far.) At the beginning of my walk, the turtles were out, warming themselves in the hazy sunshine. I noticed one large turtle that was above the foot high "waterfall" that is created by a cement bank. He plopped into the water just above the waterfall into a rather strong current. I watched to see if the water would push it over the "falls". This determined turtle worked to swim against the current. I found that humorous and interesting and watched to see if he(she) would make any progress. Turtles are slow. But it was remarkable to watch the tenacity of this turtle and slowly but surely it made it's way up the bayou against the current. So then I wondered, "Why do some of us pick the hard way to do things?" And as I watched I imagined the way that rush of water might feel against the turtle's body. How refreshing and how strong it would make it feel. I remembered how my father would sit in a "whirlpool" in the creek for a water massage. I began to think this turtle was on to something. That turtle knows the value of good, solid exercise! So with a quickened pace I set off to accomplish my own valuable exercise.
Have a Terrific Tuesday.
