My Work-out Plan

I entered a plateau challenge, and for today's activity, I need to reflect upon my work-out plan.

When I restarted working-out, the plan was just to exercise 3 times per week. Then, I planned to slowly increase intensity and frequency as I progressed.

Right now, I'm walking almost every day, doing some kind of cardio about 5 times per week. I do Zumba or a similar class 2 or 3 times per week. I use the elliptical and the treadmill and I use machines, dumbbells, and calisthenics for strength training about 3 or 4 times per week.

Since acquiring a Fitbit, I monitor my steps and I'm trying to climb at least 10 flights of stairs per day.

Recently I went a little crazy and didn't take a real rest day for a while. Yesterday, I also got over 20,000 steps, which is really too much for me right now. I know this because my ankle was furious last night and is still not happy today.

So, I'm going to try to be more mindful. I know it's good to push our limits but I also know it's important to work in a healthy balance. I'm not 21 any more and it takes my body longer to recover, I've got to respect that.

I'll see how my ankle responds to walking today. I may have to scale back my cardio for a bit and possibly scale back my leg exercises (strength) due to being a little overzealous.

    This is such a great reflection, it's always important for us to look at what we are actually doing. I hope your ankle starts feeling better soon!
