I am participating in the 5k walking challenge. I checked on google and did the whole trans-thing... so, 5 k is actually 3.10686 miles and I'm thinking I do that much in a day anyway. Why not try to do it in one go?!
This morning I felt really good, the weather was chilled, but sunny and there was a slight fog... excellent walking weather. I set out to test how far I have to walk in my neighborhood to actually do the entire 5 k in one go. I figured a path that I can do in one big loop without having to track back and forth or cover the same stretch twice. I made my 5 k in 60 minutes and it came out to 6200 steps for me. I am pretty happy about that.
Hubby and I went to Lowe's yesterday and to a craft store. My grand-daughter is coming tonight for her sleep over and tomorrow we are working on a few projects.
So she is almost 6 now (january11) and we have always done the crafting for the holidays thing with her. When she was little it was the usual hand and foot print things, one year she stamped and hand printed the table decorations for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals... She made tree ornaments in the past and baked cookies with us every year.
This year we go a little bit more ambitious with her. She will make and help make Advents wreaths. There are four households in our local family.... our project is two fold actually. I bought a large bag ( no stones) concrete mix at Lowe's and we pour that in 12 inch trays. In the wet concrete mix we'll place 4 candles in glass jars. We have large pine cones, that I collected on my morning walks, a few bought decorations, like deer and white trees, acorn clusters, pretty natural stones and clear and blue glass stones. When all is dry we add glitter spray and white paint to make it all look wintery.
The second part and also her Christmas project is to use the rest of the concrete mix to make garden and stepping stones for various flower beds. She decorates the bottom of her molds, before pouring the concrete mix over it. When it's all dry, she turns it over and viola... there is the stepping stone.
This will be such a fun weekend! I try to take pics of the project and what it looks like finished.
