BoT 6

We had rain off and on all week. That is a good thing, and even so I am still a bit up and down about it. We really, really need the rain, just not the mosquitoes and the humidity. Or my hubby's moodiness… or my crazy cravings.

Two days ago we took our grand-daughter to the zoo and I think her highlight was the sand box. lol, when you live as close to a zoo as we do, you kind of go there a lot. Our daughter bought the year tickets for all of us, so we can take up to 6 people and we all got a card. That means we can go all the time, every day if we wanted to, but it kind of looses it's appeal that way. So we try to take our GG every few weeks and tell her she needs to show us all that is new. That way we get to see at least half the zoo before she's had enough. They have so much stuff around it now, like swan shaped paddle boats, train ride, carrousel, feeding the fish, feeding the ducks, feeding the giraffes and so forth and all costs money or tokens. SO now we have to make plans before we go like, you get to feed the giraffes today, but you can't ride also on the train.... unfortunately we can't do the swan boats because I can't physically get in them. They are paddle boats and you have to contort yourself to get to sit down in them. Plus my hubby can't swim, in case of a problem he'd be stuck.
Anyway, our grand-daughter is getting so familiar with the zoo that she can hold the talks almost at her favorite animal stations. It's funny when people turn and just listen to her talk and talk about what she knows... The caretakers love it because she gets the crowds going and everyone starts asking more questions. They don't just stand there to listen, they interact.

Yesterday we all had a bad day and ended up getting on each others nerves. Mostly I think it was the weather and the constant changes. Then it gave us a really good wonderful down pour and after a short but quiet nap we all felt better. So today was our weekly library day. We went and got 8 new books, usually her limit is 5 but we found that we read more than 5 books in the week. They added some life size (child size) animals to the library room, so our grand-daughter was in heaven. It takes so little to make kids happy. Now they are napping... hubby and grand-daughter, so I get peace and quiet for a while.

I love zoos but there aren’t any around here. We stopped at the zoo in Omaha, Nebraska on our way back from vacation but it was super hot that day. Your granddaughter sounds like a real joy. You are blessed to have her near.

Its great that you're so close to the zoo. Our closest is about 400 miles away. Your granddaughter must be quite a conversationalist!

That is so funny about your granddaughter being able to do the zoo talks herself - and I imagine she DOES get the crowds going!
