Blessed

Tuesday, October 23, 2018

On Monday, we received news that we have been hoping for. My son Scott has been placed on the active kidney transplant list. It is an answe to prayer. We have been doing nocturnal home hemodialysis for nine years. He has done well with this but life will be so much simpler with a transplant.

Donation is a gift of life. We can never repay such a gift but hope it will give the family of the donor some comfort as they grieve their loss. This was brought even more vivid to us as we learned that the hostess at one of our favorite restaurants suddenly lost her 19 year old son this week. He was on life support until they determined there was no brain activity. The family are donating his organs. My heart so goes out to her and the family.

What an enormous relief to know that your son is on the list. It will be a blessing to your son, and a solace to the family who loses a loved one.

Praying the same, that the wait period won't be too long!

Here’s hoping that your son’s wait period won’t be long. I think organ donation very often is helpful to the donor’s family. A friend of mine died a few years ago, and her family were comforted after finding out that the organ donations assisted over 40 recipients.
