little extra time at pool

Saturday, January 05, 2019

We had an excellent teacher today in the water fit class. I usually start about 10 minutes before class starts as class is 50 minutes and that gives me an hour of exercise. Today because several students were kind of late to class the teacher started the class about 10 minutes late. So that means I did an extra 10 minutes. Like my Thursday teacher often says 'every movement counts'. I wish the teacher today would continue teaching us but she said she is teaching a spin class instead. She said she had lost a 100 pounds through diet and exercise. Maybe she'll substitute again some time. I hope I can remember some of her routine to do tomorrow on my own.

In my last blog about not staying with line dance class, most comments said to not quit. Ok but I really didn't care for the instructor because he started the class or his dancing before the time for class to start when just a couple of people were in the room. He never even introduced himself nor made any opening remarks like most classes do for new students. He danced with his back to us which I kind of understand that then we go the same direction that he does but somehow it just didn't seem right. So I really don't think I want to try his class again however there is a Monday line dancing class with a different teacher. I plan to go and will do my best to stay for the whole class. Thanks for the encouraging comments.

A different instructor can make all the difference in how you feel about the class. It's great that you're going to try again.

Maybe the substitute that you enjoyed so much would be willing to share some of her strategies with you. Did you tell her how much you liked her style? She might consider teaching something similar.

While it's only my opinion, I disagree with those who said that you shouldn't do something you don't enjoy. I don't enjoy doing the dishes for example, or tackling the task of balancing my checkbook and paying the bills, in fact the paperwork is a huge time suck, BUT...discipline also has to be a part of our lives. Sometimes, in order to find and keep better health, we have to do things we don't enjoy.

You are doing great!! I'm not advocating line dancing that you don't enjoy, just the idea of giving it a second shot. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

That is so great of you to try with another instructor. Hope it goes well. Hopefully it can't be any worse than the first class - right?

Hmmmm . . . can't see a reason to go back to something you didn't enjoy. However, if you think you might enjoy it w/another teacher, that's the time to reconsider.

Meantime, keep doing what you're doing!
