rest days needed

So I just started Sunday doing wall push-up. I thought since I was only doing the push-ups and starting with modified ones that I wouldn't need to take rest days. One of the great things about SP is the people care about you. So I got an email from OLDEROWL as he thought maybe I'd need to take rest days. He asked SPARK_COACH_JEN and she replied as follows:
If you're working your muscles to fatigue (which you should be with most strength exercises), then they should get a day of rest in between workouts. Push-ups and sit-ups are a little different in that they aren't the same kind of overload to your muscles. So I think they are okay to do 2 days in a row, although you might want to take a day or two of rest from them each week.
That being said, planks are a much more effective exercise for your core. Even crunches are better than sit-ups because they typically put less stress on your lower back.

So I will continue but have a couple of rest days a week. Today was a rest day from my wall push-ups. I'm only doing about 10 in a set and only 1 or 2 sets in a day but not close together if I do a second set. I need to build up to 3 sets of 15 before moving on to the next modification.
