More Winter Weather

Saturday, March 02, 2019

Our weather in Central Oregon has changed from snow to freezing fog. I don’t really like freezing fog, but at least I am getting a break from shoveling snow.

I posted a photo of my front deck after the first big snow. The railing is about four feet high.

By the end of the storm (yesterday) snow was even piled higher.

I have a metal roof, which means the snow comes down with a huge thump. Unfortunately the big dump knocked my gutters away from the roof. In the photo below, the icicles are pointing sideways. ( P.s. we had about three hours of sunshine between the snow and freezing fog)

Can you see the big mountain of snow that came down? The gutters show in the photo below too.

On the plus side, my driveway is currently clear. I did not have too much damage. And I was able to get a contractor to shovel off the roof.

Here’s to sunny weather! Spring can’t come too soon for me!

Oh my that is a ton of snow. I've never heard of having to shovel off the roof...and we lived in Iowa where we got plenty of snow. I have a sparky friend in MN and she frequently talks about her hubby scraping off the roof. A job I would NOT relish.

It's cold here in FL in the '40s.. that is like 0 for my Northern friends...we FL sissies don't cope well with cold weather. Its a weird kind of cold very damp and bone-chilling. Ugh...DH doesn't need to be cold when he's fighting a cold. We might have to fire up the heat again for the second time this winter just to take the chill out of the house. In FL when you run heat your electricity bill is THREE times higher...our air conditioners just have heat strips on them which is very inefficient. But we do what we have to do for comfort don't we?

DH has been to the doctor but he tells him what he has is viral and he will just have to wait it out...I hope he knows what he's talking about. The medical system here in FL is very flawed as I wrote in my last blog. emoticon

Yikes! I hate snow! Gives me the chills just looking at these pics! Sorry you got gutter damage. I never remembered ever having to shovel snow from a roof from our years in Ohio. We probably should have when we got 2 feet in 2 days in Feb. 2002.
    Be safe, stay warm. emoticon

Wow! Sorry about the damage to your gutters...
Yep, around here we like our infrequent snowstorms like the rest of our Texas weather: here & gone in about 3 days, I don’t think we could survive much longer than that! Nobody knows how to drive & everyone strips the grocery store shelves in a panicked frenzy of “stocking up”.

Watched on Friday as the freezing fog inched up the river before we were totally engulfed. Cold and clear here today. We often have snow load worries too. Lucky for us, the sun came out just enough to get the roof snow to drop off. Just a short break until drought and road work season. emoticon emoticon Stay cozy!

Our snow is over for a while, but the temperatures are supposed to go way below zero by Sunday night!!! Ken heard today that when the cold leaves, we are supposed to go up to 50 degrees F. and stay there. We shall see................. emoticon emoticon
