A Couple of Firsts

Yesterday was my first did not start. I had every intention of running the NE5 5 mile race. Several factors played a part in my first DNS. 1) I was at a mental health first aid training until the start of the race. I could have just run it when I got there, it's a very small local club race, but another factor came up. 2) My second daughter's Goddaughters were at our house, she was at work and her younger brother had no idea what to feed them. I think it was more that he had just got off work and was tired. So I made dinner and fed them. 3) I hadn't had a rest day in 10 days and I was freezing. So I decided to forgo the pint glass and stay home.
I also received my first, and probably only, running shirt quilt. Thirty shirts with memories that will warm my heart as my quilt keeps my body warm. I have some other shirts leftover, but they are super comfy and I'll wear them.
I'm not sure how many more races I'll participate in. I want to just run for pleasure without the training and wear on my body. Physically it is harder to recover from long distances or when I run concrete. We'll see!
