I've had many changes this past month or so. First, I will start a new job in the fall. I currently teach elementary kids with Down Syndrome, Autism and other development delays. I love my kids, but after 20 years it was time for a change. I also needed a change from my current school. In August I will teach middle schools that have severe behavioral problems. Am I crazy, probably, but I am so excited!
I'm still running, but I have discovered that I love different types of exercise. I have been doing spinning classes three times a week and a group power (weight training), twice a week. I run or walk on the weekends, mow the lawn, etc. I'm getting my bike ready to start doing some trail riding, too.
I did run the Tails 'n Trails 10k last weekend. My boy, Halo, did well. It was fun and his behavior was great, too. He loves other dogs and tends to get really excited if a dog "eyeballs" him, but he did well.
I am gearing up for the Big Red Challenge in two weeks. It's similar to a spartan race where there are obstacles, rope climbs, dirt, climbing ropes, etc. I am doing the non-competitive race with a team. We are all helping each other and one of our members is in a wheelchair. I may not be able to do all the obstacles, but I will try.
My youngest child graduated from high school and had his party yesterday. It was fun and he had a good turnout. Enough food without too many leftovers. I love having a houseful of people and especially "kids." The "kids" are now in their 20's, but I love that so many of my own kids friends feel comfortable enough to call me, "Mom."
My youngest brought home a little calico/tabby kitten. She's a tiny thing at 1.25 lbs and oh so sweet. The kids named her Indie. My hubby isn't so happy with having another cat, but I'm keeping her.
I have signed up for several 10k runs this year. I am no longer competitive, just running with friends. My hamstring still gets sore after almost every run, but it's ok, I still love to run.
I hope everyone is healthy and moving well.
