June 18, 2019 HUMBLE HEARTS

So many people in this world tend to think about themselves more than others. It seems to be human nature to want to boast or brag about what is going on in our lives rather than listen to others or seek ways to encourage or help them. Those who have humble hearts know their place in this world. They know they are here to do what God has called them to do. They know when they are living out their godly purpose in life, they are walking humbly with God.

Micah 6:8 “No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” (NLT)

1. Write the characteristics of a humble heart.
2. List the areas you could improve on.
3. Know God wants you to have a humble heart.
4. Pray and ask Him to help you today.

Dear Lord, help us to have humble hearts. We know we sometimes get puffed up and proud about things and we can’t wait to tell others what good we have done. We know we also get angry or bitter when things don’t go our way. Help us to stop focusing on us and start practicing focusing on You. We want humble hearts that are caring and sharing Your word. Help us, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we stop thinking about all we need to know and do, we can humble ourselves before God and seek to know and do His will

Psalm 131:1 “My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.” (NIV)

We are to live by God’s word and He will bless us if we have humble hearts.

Isaiah 66:2b “I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word.” (NLT)

When we humbly submit our lives to God and obey Him, we will be blessed.

Luke 1:38a “Here I am, the Lord’s humble servant. As you have said, let it be done to me.” (VOICE)
